Labor Day Morning Guided Paddle at Virginia Key Outdoor Center VKOC on Monday, September 4th, 2017

Join us this Labor Day as we paddle from Jimbo’s Lagoon to the Marine Stadium Baisin! We will be stopping on the beach to look at the Miami Skyline and the beautiful wildlife around the area! There is no better way to spend Labor Day if not on the Water! You won’t be alone! Our Tour Guides are experienced, friendly, and don’t mind taking a picture or two ;–)! You’ll be in good hands!
DIFFICULTY:

This paddle is generally suitable for beginners. At times wind and tide may become challenging. Expect the best and be prepared for the rest.

TIME & PLACE:
Meet at Virginia Key Outdoor Center one hour before to the event start (launch) time. If you are late and miss the launch it is considered a no-show and non-refundable. Please arrive on time.

DIFFICULTY:
This paddle is suitable beginners. Conditions will determine length and final route. We will paddle at a leisurely pace.

DESTINATION:
Final destination and route are subject to weather. The lagoon is always sheltered and the creek is calm. We’ll paddle to Norris Cut, then paddling to the Marine Stadium Baisin. We will not be entering the Stadium because it is under construction!

Drinks, snacks, insect repellant, and lights are available from at the park store.

RENTALS:
Kayaks, Paddleboards, and Surf Skis are available for rent through The Paddle House at Virginia Key Outdoor Center. All Rentals include Kayak/SUP, Life Jacket, and Paddle.

If you bring your own equipment you must have a Life Jacket. They are required.

Bring your own boat/SUP and it’s FREE. However we encourage you to leave a minimum $10 donation for our Guides.

DIRECTIONS: From the mainland, head towards Key Biscayne on the Rickenbacker Causeway Go past the toll plaza and the the Powell Bridge (tall bridge) Continue past the light at MAST Academy Take your first left (there is NO light, just a turn lane) Look for a brown and gold sign on the fence Continue to gate and let them know you are here for the paddleboard demo Continue towards the right fork of the road for approx 1.25 mi. At the end of the road make a left and quick right Follow signs to Virginia Key Outdoor Center on your left, lagoon is on your right

PARKING Please park in the VKOC parking lot.

THE NITTY GRITTY:
This paddle is operated by Virginia Key Outdoor Center. We will stay together and share the evening. Each participant is responsible for his or her own equipment, safety and enjoyment. Bring a friendly attitude and you are sure to enjoy the evening.

WHAT TO BRING:
Your boat, your paddle, your PFD (which you will wear), lights for night paddling, drinks and snack food, bug spray is recommended just in case. Don’t forget your camera and cheerful disposition.
